Onward and Upward
Tom Stubbs leaving Angwin
Tom Stubbs
Angwin has lost its popular school administrator Tom Stubbs. Stubbs, principal of the Howell Mountain Elementary School, has won an enviable promotion to superintendent of the West Marin County District. He will be running the high school and four elementary schools there. About 600 students, compared to 130 in Angwin's one public school.
Tom's office will be in Tomales, overseeing the schools there and in three other communities, Pt. Reyes, Bodega Bay, and Inverness.
This is a largely rural region, famous for its large dairy farms, the beautiful Pacific coast, whale watching and a local herd of elk. A very different environment.
Tom has served us well for 10 years and deserves this promotion. We wish him well.

Balloons in Angwin
Balloons landed several times last week in the center of Angwin. Possibly because the Napa Valley was invisible through the fog and passengers were taken to Pope Valley instead. Here is one that dropped down on the grassy lawn of Brookside Apartments, the PUC student housing subdivision.
The passengers might have missed the scenic Napa Valley, but they would have seen the vineyards of Pope Valley, our forested range stretching all the way to Mt. St. Helena, and the campus of Pacific Union College in the exceptionally beautiful natural environment of Howell Mountain.
