About Angwin...
Angwin is a community of about 3000 residents on Howell Mountain. We are in a coastal range of northern California, about 70 mi. north of San Francisco.
The Village ranges from 1600 to 2200 ft. elevation, overlooking the scenic Napa Valley. It is surrounded by vineyards and forests.
Many Angwin residents work for Pacific Union College, a liberal arts college with a national reputation, or the nearby St. Helena Hospital.

Old Howell Mountain Road Repair

The original road from Napa Valley to Angwin does not get a lot of traffic, but it is a vital alternate route in case of an accident on Deer Park Road, or in case a major fire requires evacuation. So the County repairs major problems on the old Howell Mountain Road as they occur.
Heavy rains last March caused the roadway to collapse and crews have been working for a month rebuilding it. Moving dirt and repaving are expected to continue toward the end of November.
The Department of Public Works estimated the cost at $125,000.
