Election results for County supervisor
It's Dillon vs. Parady in run-off
Angwin voters gave a chunk of their votes to Mike Haley and Jeff Parady, but Diane Dillon surged way ahead of both of them individually elsewhere in District 3. However, she fell 1.1% short of the 50% she needed. So it will be Dillon vs. Parady in November.
Here are the highlights:
In Angwin   Total in District 3
Votes for Each Percentage   Votes for Each Percentage
Dillion 262 34.7%   3103 48.9%
Parady 275 36.4%   2312 36.4%
Haley 219 29%   930 14.7%
HALEY posted his heftiest vote in Angwin where PUC people campaigned for him. They believed that he was the only candidate who would vote for the four subdivisions the college wants. Even here, his 29% was well below Parady's 36% and Dillon's 35%. The shifting demographics with more non-Adventist residents each year has steadily diminished the college's influence in the political arena.
PARADYplastered Howell Mountain with billboards and it paid off in both Angwin and Deer Park. But it was in Pope Valley and Berryessa that he really scored. Three precincts there gave him 68, 71, and 77% of their votes.
DILLON was strongest everywhere else in the District in what looks like a carbon copy of her wins in her two previous elections. Her opponents can say that 51% of the voters voted against her. Her supporters can say that her 49% was almost as much as her two opponents combined.
The fact is her vote boils down to a very big lead over the single opponent she will face in the November run-off - 48.9% vs. Parady's 36.4%.
However, the campaign for November will be a brand-new ball game for both Dillon and Parady. It is unlikely that voters will switch from one to the other, but there are about 6000 uncommitted voters out there to be wooed. These people sat on their hands this time. Neither candidate took them raging to the polls, but the November election will produce very nasty campaigns for a California governor and other heavy hitters. That will pop people out of their TV chairs.
Stay tuned.
