A fast-moving fire forced quick evacuation by George and Anne Patterson from their Newton Way home on August 3. The blaze brought out fire fighters from Angwin, Pope Valley, and Deer Park and the California state station on Las Posadas Road.

It caused an estimated $250,000 damage, including a vehicle in the garage, and undetermined damages to close neighbors.
