College Market up for Sale
|
|
We have received numerous reports that the PUC Board has approved the sale of the College Market, Angwin's only grocery store and hardware. The College has not made an official announcement and the chairman of the Board refuses to answer questions.
|
|
The report is that the market will be open on Sabbaths if the new owner wishes, and that he may stock anything he wishes. If that materializes, a number of local Adventists are bound to be upset. But again, the chairman of the Board is not talking, so this is all still in the rumor stage. Stay tuned.

Lois Berry as a teen-ager
|
One of Angwin's dear people died recently, a woman whose past stretched back to 1903.
That was the year the ice cream cone was patented.
The first automobile trip across America started in San Francisco and ended in New York City three months later.
The teddy bear was "invented."
A long drought made Niagara Falls run dry.
Ford Motor Company sold its first Model A
The Wright Brothers first flew at Kitty Hawk
Lois Berry saw a lot of history. Through it all, she was a humanitarian beginning with her days as a pre-nursing student at Pacific Union College and and for decades thereafter, serving people one on one as a nurse. Even before that, because just as a youngster, she was helping her father, a doctor in Healdsburg.
Lois and her husband had no children of her own but through the years they were foster parents to many and she was Aunt Lois, and Great Aunt Lois and Great Great Aunt Lois to a total of 150 others.
A life well lived.
