County Planners Say "Nix" to Exclusive Pope Valley Resort
Planning commissioners turned thumbs down to a luxury golf course and gated community in Pope Valley this week. The vote was 3 to 2.
The decision is significant to Angwin residents for several reasons.
First, because the developer did not want to build affordable housing for the 160 workers the project would take. Let them go to Angwin, he said.
Second, because the project would have gone onto agricultural land, a big "No, no" in Napa County.
A number of Angwin residents tooled down to the hearings and spoke against the increased traffic up and down the winding road from Angwin, and also the idea of not providing housing with the new jobs. The prediction is that the developer will appeal to the Board of Supervisors.
