About Angwin...
Angwin is a community of about 3200 residents on Howell Mountain. We are in a coastal range of northern California, about 70 mi. north of San Francisco.
The Village ranges from 1600 to 2200 ft. elevation, overlooking the scenic Napa Valley. It is surrounded by vineyards and forests.
Many Angwin residents work for Pacific Union College, a liberal arts college with a national reputation, or the nearby St. Helena Hospital.

What a loss . . .
Malcolm Maxwell Gone
Malolm Maxwell's death last week produced a wave of sadness in Angwin. As president of Pacific Union College for 18 years and a good neighbor, he held the hearts of many Angwinites.
Dr. Maxwell had lost his wife earlier this year, and then was struck with Lou Gehrig's Disease which moved with dismaying speed. His rapid decline from good health at age 73 came as a shock to Angwinites.
PUC officials are planning a memorial service in a few weeks.
Malcolm was the youngest of four sons of Arthur Maxwell, whose series of books, called "Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories" (35 million copies) were read to millions of children by their parents. Each contained a short adventure tale and ended with a moral.
We will miss Malcolm's ready smile, down-to-earth advice, and folksy family sermons. He was a great PUC president. His faculty and his Angwin neighbors called him "Malcolm." With genuine affection and respect.
