Angwin kid makes good
Veteran Sportscaster Martin Wyatt Retires
If you would like to read a great success story, click on the link below and read the Napa Valley Register story about Martin Wyatt, who was a college football star and top-rated sportscaster for 40 years.
The local angle? Martin was an Angwin kid for seven years, and a graduate from PUC Prep. He never played football until he went on to Vallejo Junior College, but that was the start of his football career. He was part of great University of Washington teams, where his record includes some really exciting runs - scoring against UC Berkeley with a 72-yard punt return one game, and a 16-yard winning touchdown also against the Golden Bears in another game. When he went into sportscasting, he started another career, one that lasted 40 years, the last 23 at KGO, San Francisco.
Wyatt didn't get the early start in sports that many youngsters do. His mother, a devout Seventh-day Adventist, wanted him in an Adventist school and sacrificed to pay the bills for PUC Prep. But Martin made up for lost time after he graduated in l959, and maybe some of what he learned on Howell Mountain helped push him on to a life of many successes.

Big Birthday Bash
Karaoke comes to the Teen Center
The Angwin Teen Center celebrated Director Tom Amato's 60th birthday last week with a party and fund-raiser. As good an excuse for a party as any. Delicious food, great entertainment.
Now it's a dynamic part of "the local scene" and we can't imagine Angwin without it.
Particularly striking was how the Teen Center has drawn kids, parents, and leadership from a cross section of this village.
