About Angwin...
Angwin is a community of about 2500 residents on Howell Mountain. We are in a coastal range of northern California, about 70 mi. north of San Francisco.
The Village ranges from 1600 to 2200 ft. elevation, overlooking the scenic Napa Valley. It is surrounded by vineyards and forests.
Many Angwin residents work for Pacific Union College, a liberal arts college with a national reputation, or the nearby St. Helena Hospital.

Shakespeare in Performance
The Shakespeare in Performance class offered through Pacific Union College will take place at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland from July 25 to 28. Space is limited to the first 15 applicants.
The class may be taken for credit or just for fun and will include a backstage tour, interview with an actor, prefaces to all plays, and class discussion. Featured plays are "The Winter’s Tale," “King John," "Two Gentlemen of Verona," "The Merry Wives of Windsor" and "Cyranode Bergerac."

General Plan Workshop in Angwin Next Thursday
Pacific Union College is pursuing plans for development in Angwin. On another track and simultaneously, Napa County planners are wondering what Angwinites want this village to look like years ahead.
The vehicle for change on the County track is the Napa County General Plan. A Steering Committee is studying how to treat Angwin in the General Plan, which will ultimately control zoning here - agricultural, commercial and residential.
They want to know what we think, what we want. If you have an opinion, or just want to hear what others say, come to the workshop next Thursday, July 20.
Thursday, July 20, at 6:30 p.m.
Fireside Room in the church complex.
The existing designation for Angwin in the existing General Plan is the notorious "Bubble." Drawn in conference with PUC people more than 20 years ago, it is an oval that encompasses the campus and extends along Howell Road for more than half a mile beyond the campus. It is designated "Urban" - meaning it could allow building hundreds of new homes on College lands.
The Bubble is a fiction. It bears no relationship to reality. Why? Because it includes many acres of woodland and crop land which is zoned agricultural and should never be developed. And because it doesn't include most of the already developed Angwin community. It is a planning embarrassment.
What the County needs to do is draw a completely different map of Urban Angwin, INCLUDING the existing PUC campus and the existing community, and EXCLUDING the parcels which are zoned agriculture/watershed.
We think that will happen. But they need to hear from residents that that is what we want.
The workshop will give you an opportunity to say, "First of all, let's get rid of the Bubble. Let's get real."

The County's definition of Urban Angwin is the bubble within the yellow line. It includes 1/2 mile of woods and farmland north of the campus. Still zoned Agriculture. It excludes most of the village. Makes no sense as the basis for planning the future of Angwin. Replace the bubble with the real Urban Angwin.
